How To Change Up Your Skincare for Winter | #CollabmasInJuly

Winter Blues are very real and they can affect us all in many different ways.  For example, I find that the cold and drying air of Winter can leave my skin looking less than gorgeous and fine lines and pores become much more visible as the plumpness and hydration leaves my skin.

I know that it's a sad thought, but luckily I have a fantastic solution to all your dry and dehydrated skin problems that you may encounter this Winter...

1. Hydrate

When you're dehydrated, what do you want to do? Hydrate.

Something you would think would be a no brainer, but we can often forget to keep up the fluids in the Winter time. I would think it's most likely linked to not actually experiencing the heat as you would in Summer and therefore feeling like you don't actually need to replenish your body with water. But remember, your skin can only look good from the outside in, so whatever you're putting into your body is a vital part of how gorgeous and hydrated your skin will look on the outside.

2. Exfoliate

Cold and harsh winds can be very drying on your skin so make sure you keep a great exfoliator on hand. I'm currently loving this Pure Renewing Mask from Mesoestetic as it also doubles as a face mask and it's formulated specifically for acne-prone and seborrhoeic skin! This helps clear away my dead skin cells, targets and treats my breakouts as well as being a champ at refining the surface of my skin leaving a smooth finish that makes me want to run my hands all over my face!

Don't forget about the rest of your body too! My favourite body exfoliant is this DIY Coffee Scrub which leaves my skin so incredibly soft and hydrated from the Coconut Oil.

3. Moisturise

Now that we're hydrated and exfoliated, it's time to moisturise! I like to amp up the hydration with my moisturisers in the Winter even though I have oily skin. If I neglect it and let my skin become dehydrated, I will end up with an absolute oil slick on my face due to an overproduction of oil. So please, don't be deterred from keeping that beautiful skin lovely and moisturised. My two favourite products at the moment include the NIOD Hydration Vaccine and The Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate, both providing amazing hydration and gorgeous looking skin no matter if it's the AM or PM.

I also love to keep a lip balm and hand cream near me at all times in the colder months as my hands and lips dry out like crazy and for me, the Mecca Cosmetica Transforming Hand Cream and Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm are my two saviours in this regard.

  1. I definitely always forget that hydrating in winter is equally as important as in the summer. It seems like you shouldn't have to consumer as much fluids, but it's actually the opposite, especially if you are around heaters a lot. Great tips!

  2. I used to be so good with skin care during the winter months. Summer I'm usually more "lazy" but lately I've been taking that approach year round. I've been trying to break this bad habit, but damn it as you get older things like this become impossible!!!! Eff getting old, especially since I can't skip this kind of stuff and get away with it anymore either :o( so thanks for these tips!

    1. Haha oh Sonia! I know what you mean about being more lazy in regards to skincare in Summer- I find it's when my skin tends to clear up the most so I always get a bit lazy!

  9. Forever finding it hilarious that our seasons are totally opposite, haha! Though yes, your picks are all key - particularly hydrating more! My lips always suffer during winter otherwise.
