DIY Smoothie Bowl Recipe

The concept of Smoothie Bowls are blowing my mind. I mean, it's like a fruit soup that's both delicious and nutritious, not to mention you can decorate it however you want it which usually makes for a very aesthetically pleasing breakfast.

The most popular form of smoothie bowls I have come across so far is using Acai, (whether it's the frozen berry or a concentrated powder) which gives it a deliciously rich taste and gorgeous purple colour. However, there are also other forms of smoothie bowls that I've come across too... green, yellow and even some pink!

DIY Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:
For the bowls

  • 1 frozen Banana
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2 tsp Acai powder
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/4 cup raspberries

Some topping ideas

  • Chia seeds
  • Coconut flakes
  • Cacao Nibs
  • Strawberries
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Granola
  • Banana etc.

1. Toss all the ingredients into a blender and pulse until smooth. Pick your toppings and dig in. Simples!

It's an endless world of possibilities really, you can literally chuck in whatever fruit is in your fridge straight into a blender and pulse it up!

Are you a big fan of smoothie bowls?

  1. I've only had acai bowls a few times and I reaaally like them - they're so expensive in cafes though! Would be totally awesome to make my own, I'll have to give it a go! Thanks for the recipe :))

  2. Looking at the chia seeds in your bowl gives me a massive sense of guilt. I have a huge bag sitting in the cupboard still waiting to be used. Eek!
