Products My Skin Has Been Loving

As a blogger, sometimes I'm lucky enough to be invited to press events for various brands and I have most recently had the pleasure of attending the Chadstone Kiehl's store opening. Once there and acquainted with the store, I was walked through a skin consultation which included covering my skin type and any concerns I might have. For me, my skin tends to be quite oily in the Summer and can classify itself as more combination/oily in cooler months. My main concern with my skin is that I quite frequently breakout and I don't always have full control over the temptation to start popping any spots! I generally try to keep my hands away from my face but the temptation is too great sometimes...especially if it's a whopper!

After the event, we were kindly gifted with a range of products best suited for our skin types as was discussed during our consultations. I have been using these products for well over a month now and I'm ready to tell you just what I think of them.

Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash

This is probably the most gentle face wash I have ever used, in fact sometimes I wasn't even sure it was cleansing properly because I was never left with that dry, squeaky clean feeling to my face and I found that this was something I actually liked in a cleanser as I hate the feeling of having stripped my pores of natural oils. Despite my oily skin, I really just want to keep it happy and hydrated otherwise then my skin will go into overdrive and start producing bucketloads of oil and that is something that doesn't make me happy.

Daily Reviving Concentrate

A new addition to the Kiehl's skincare line, this is the 'daytime' version of it's predecessor Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Having used both serums now, I have found they both work in very similar ways in the sense that they help repair and hydrate the skin during the day and while you sleep but really, the only thing that really separates the two oils is that they have very different scents. The Daily Reviving Concentrate is used as a morning oil underneath your moisturiser and boasts ginger and zingy orange scents in comparison to it's evening counterpart which evokes light, lavender scents. Whether or not it's a marketing ploy is totally glossed over because this stuff is great. It is good skin in a bottle and I find when used in conjunction with the Blue Herbal Moisturiser and Spot Treatment at night, it almost guarantees that I will be waking up the next morning fresh faced and ready for the day.

Blue Herbal Spot Treatment

I have previously tried other spot treatments in similar vain but with no results, so naturally this is the product I was most apprehensive about trying. I am pleased to say I have seen results, they may be subtle to someone who doesn't inspect their face as closely or often as I do, but there have definitely been results. I have used this product both in the morning when I've woken up with nice whoppers on my face and at night when I can feel a spot coming on. In either situation, it's totally stopped the spot from progressing any further and even diminished upon reapplication. Result!

Blue Herbal Moisturiser

Yes, this moisturiser is actually blue. Not a full on Smurf kind of blue, but it definitely has a distinct blue tinge to it which honestly doesn't bother me. What does bother me about this moisturiser though, is it applies matte on the skin and maybe 2-3 hours later my skin starts to look oily again. You see, I'm not a person who wears makeup every single day either (except brows, always brows) so I feel this can really get annoying when I step out of the house looking like a Christmas ornament. Obviously there's a very simple fix to this using blotting paper but I feel like I have met moisturisers which are much better suited to my skin and my needs.

  1. Kiehl's has long been under my radar, I kept wanting to purchase it but I have a huge pile of skincare to go through so I don't see myself purchasing anything in the near future. :-(

  2. I've only ever heard positive things about Kiehl's as a brand, with most bloggers says their products are great for targeting specific problems. Also, blue moisturiser? So fun!

    1. I've only heard positives too! I think that's probably because you can easily find a range suited to your skincare needs so you don't end up faffing around with something that doesn't really work for you!

  3. Hi there, I love the Kiehls deep calendula cleanser! general Kiehls doesn't disappoint me, too bad the blue moisturiser doesn't fit that well to your skin though. I am recently loving the classic lightweight lotion from Cetaphil ;)

    Have a great weekend!
