November News

Jeepers Creepers, it has been far too long! You’re probably wondering if I have dropped off the face of the Earth, (or maybe you just don’t care) but October was a pretty wild ride from start to finish.

VLOGTOBER DAYS 1 - 7

So things have been super quiet here on the blog, but I promise it's for good reason. As I'm writing this post, I am celebrating my last ever assignment submission- I've officially finished my course! That definitely calls for celebration, but unfortunately it's way too early to start cracking out the tequila... I will just have to save myself for later tonight!

Another exciting news update- I have undertaken the challenge to vlog every single day this October. I know, it seems crazy but it's honestly the most rewarding challenge and I can't wait to look back at the end of this month and have 31 videos to watch which chronicle my everyday life.  It's because of these two things that I have been really slacking in my blog posts but I'm thinking I might take a break from beauty blogging this month and really focus on the whole vlogging thing for October. I will still post here weekly and leave you updates of what I'm up to but as of now, I'm on 'holiday'! LOL

I also really want to relaunch my blog at the end of the month, so I will still be working on the blog but just nothing you will be able to see just yet! Enough of the disappointing stuff, grab a snack and a drink and enjoy catching up on the first seven days of VLOGTOBER!

WHAT I EAT IN A DAY #4 | VEGAN, PLANT-BASED

Welcome back to the fourth installment of my What I Eat In A Day series, where I chronicle literally everything I eat on a particular day. I know it sounds weird, but I honestly love reading posts and watching videos like this to give me 'food-spiration' and ideas for my own meals. As you may remember from my last few WIEIAD posts, I have turned to a Vegan, Plant-Based diet and I've honestly never felt better, both inside and out!

Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations

Not only am I obsessed with skincare but I am also a huge fan of the Kiehl's brand, so when I was invited to try their new Apothecary Preparations I jumped at the opportunity. It's a new level of personalised service with tailor-made skincare concentrates that addresses each customer's unique skin concerns. Each customer's personalised Apothecary Preparations facial concentrate is comprised of three distinctive parts: the base, Kiehl's Skin Strengthening Concentrate, plus two individually selected Targeted Complexes which are selected during your consultation and skin diagnosis.

Empties #3 : The Skincare Edition

As you all know I am a sucker for trying out new skincare. In fact, I am absolutely obsessed with finding new skincare innovations and fixes, so when I find something that works for me and my skin I usually jump for joy and recommend the product not only to friends and family but random strangers too. I can't help myself!

It is extremely rare for me to finish a product entirely so the fact that these skincare items have made the cut should be an indication of how great they actually are. So hop on the train to glowing, radiant skin, full steam ahead!

Plus Size Spring Try On Haul

Spring is finally upon us I am so thankful for that as I am in need of a little bit of defrosting after our Melbourne Winter. For me, there's no better way to celebrate the weather getting warmer than with a little bit of retail therapy, so I headed over to ASOS and allowed myself to do a wee bit of damage.

I tried to really think about what I was buying and made sure they were versatile pieces that could carry me through this transitional season and on into Spring. I also bought my first ever body suit and while that was a little daunting for me, I am actually in love with it!

Let's Talk About Sex

Move along if you're looking for a Salt n Pepa homage because today's post is getting down and real about sex. In the spirit of Women's Health Week here in Australia I want to get to the nitty gritty and give a little nod to awareness, proper representation and discussing the elephant in the room in regards to Women's Health.

I know that I was very lucky to grow up in a liberated household where topics like sex and nudity were spoken about freely, but I'm also aware that not everyone is able to have such an open and honest relationship with their family members especially when it comes to more 'taboo' topics. In my friendships, I find myself in the position of big sister and more often than not I'm always dishing out advice. Sex is quite prevalent in the media, TV shows, music- it's almost always talked about, but not necessarily in an informative and truthful way, so I'm here to debunk the myths in a way that is as Big-Sisterly' and factually correct as possible.

August Favourites

How is it possible we're already in September?! Where has the month gone? I feel like the older I am getting the more I find that time is passing entirely too quickly and I am so not about it!

August has been an incredibly busy month with celebrations and parties almost once or twice a week, (seriously every one I know is born in August) so I can't wait for September to take some time for myself and chill out in that respect.

In other news, I have been 'shopping my stash' and revisiting some old favourites this month and now that I think about it, it has mostly been centered around facial and body oils- I think my skin is really trying to tell me something!

An Ideal Hair Day with Lush Cosmetics

With my naturally curly hair, an ideal hair day for me is when my hair actually sits right and there's not a frizzy fly away in sight. Unfortunately, days like these are few and far in between- especially in the dry Winter air! My bae's at Lush understand the struggle too, so whether you're looking for help with volume and texture, scalp essentials, sleek and shiny locks or something to quench your thirsty hair like me, there are a myriad of products to choose from to suit your needs.

I have been trialling a few of Lush's latest additions to their haircare range and I must say I am beyond impressed with the products available to my hair needs!

Lush Father's Day Collection 2016

Lush is one of my favourite companies coming from an ethical standpoint, so when I discovered that their new Father's Day Collection this year was using ethically and sustainably sourced Sandalwood, I had to check it out. Sandalwood is extremely valuable and has led to the rise of illegal smuggling. Lush use approximately 600-700kgs of certified organic Australian sandalwood per year which is sustainably farmed in collaboration with Indigenous communities in the Kalgoorlie region of Australia. For every kilogram of sandalwood bought by Lush Australia, $50 AUD is then contributed towards an Indigenous working fund for sandalwood.

"Aboriginal custom dictates that wealth should be shared around the community, so helping harvesters make money from sustainable sandalwood is a positive way to support the community."

Sandalwood oil has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and the rich woody aroma invokes a sense of calm and deep relaxation. It's also a fixative and help keep perfume and allow the scent to develop more naturally on the skin.

How to Curl Your Hair: 3 Different Ways

I am #blessed with naturally curly hair which can sometimes be the envy of many sleek haired beauties and while I love my natural hair, I didn't always have this mindset. In fact, I used to cry and beg my mum to straighten my hair (most times she refused to) because I wanted to have gorgeous straight locks like the rest of my friends at school. Oh I was a fool.

Now that I've grown up, I have come to love my natural curls but every now and again I do fancy a little bit of a change and there's nothing like a new hairstyle to make you look and feel like you can conquer anything the world throws at you.

So I've teamed up with the good folks over at RY to bring you a tutorial for 3 different curly hairstyles using some of the Babyliss Pro range.

Why You Should Start Wearing Eye Cream In Your 20s

I know that for me, wrinkles and smile lines will be inevitable. I mean, I usually spend half of my day laughing and creasing up my face so I know that I will be nice and wrinkly in the years to come, but my theory is that prevention is better than cure and so I have made it my mission to slow down the 'ageing process' (lol) at the tender age of 22. I have devised a solid skincare regime which has been in the works over the past few years in order to look after my skin and make it beautiful on the inside and out.

I never really thought about incorporating an eye cream into my skincare until one birthday I woke up with fine lines under my eyes- this is no joke. After freaking out (and finding a grey hair under my chin- wtf?!) I decided the best course of action was to get onto the under eye care bandwagon and I haven't looked back since. Today I want to share with you my three favourite under eye creams to date.

What's In My Bag?

I've recently become more accustomed to bringing around a handbag with me everywhere I go. As much as I would like to leave all the extra 'baggage' at home, there are certain situations where I have found it inevitable to carry around an 'extra 5 kgs of death handbag'.  I'm sure if my shoulders could talk they would be bitching about me, but what can you do?

Well it turns out, apart from being shoulder death traps, handbags are a really great way to keep all of your necessities together when you are out and about. I discovered just how useful it was to keep antibacterial wipes on hand when I travelled to Adelaide earlier this month...

NEW Maybelline Lipstick Releases + SWATCHES

Around a month or so ago, I was so kindly invited into the Maybelline head offices here in Melbourne for the offical launch of all of the products they will be releasing for the second half of 2016. There are definitely some releases I am very excited for and we will be finally getting the Blushed Nudes Palette which I have to admit, I have waited quite a long time for.

In this post, I want to share with you the lip releases which I know most of you will be super excited about- because yes, there is a liquid lipstick line!

July Favourites

I swear I say the same thing every time I sit down to write one of these posts, but where has the time gone? August marks the start of another month closer to Christmas (what?) and also the last 'official' month of Winter here in Melbourne. We're not too far off from warmer Spring days and actually feeling the sun on our faces- YAY!

July has been a busy month, with uni assignments (ew), the running of #CollabmasInJuly and lots of new product releases, I have been testing and trying some new makeup and skincare which I'm ready to share with you!

Festival season is upon us now and whether you are in a sunny city or not, I'm sure you know just how unpredictable the weather can be! From clear skies one minute to a downpour of rain, it's almost as if someone knew that I had chosen this day to shoot for my Festival Lookbook. Bitter thoughts aside, I am all for the authenticity of this OOTD and so have decided to share with you some outfits that I have styled in collaboration with Boohoo to get you through this festival season- come rain, hail or shine.

Carpool Karaoke | #CollabmasInJuly

Hands up who loves singing along to their favourite tunes in the car? If you answered no, I would personally like to meet with you to check whether you are a robot or not.

James Corden's Carpool Karaoke segments have been such a hit lately and they are some of my personal favourite videos to watch when I need a little pick me up. It is because of their popularity that I've been itching to try and make my own version and let me tell you, not only was this so much fun to film but I actually found myself laughing out loud when it came to editing this all together too.

Winter / Summer FOTD | #CollabmasInJuly

Summer days seem so far away at the moment, especially with the dreary Winter weather setting in. For someone who loves cold weather, I'm really struggling this season with the Winter chills, however I've found the best way to combat these feelings is just to dream of a warm Spring day (not too hot, not too cold) and think of all the amazing Winter themed makeup looks I can create. I know, it's completely nerdy of me but I'm a makeup lover and sometimes I just can't help myself!

Lately I have been favouring a brown smoky eye, and it's so easy to achieve this look with minimal effort using an eyeshadow crayon and blending that out with a brush or fingers. It's literally a look that can take you from drab to glam in under a minute, helping you get in those extra minutes of precious sleep.

Although I am bringing you a Winter themed Face of The Day, I do like to cater to all my readers and that's why I have teamed up with the gorgeous Ela who will be my Summer FOTD counterpart.

Welcome back to the third installment of my What I Eat In A Day series, where I chronicle literally everything I eat on a particular day. I know it sounds weird, but I honestly love reading posts and watching videos like this to give me 'food-spiration' and ideas for my own meals. As you may remember from my last two WIEIAD posts, I have turned to a Vegan, Plant-Based diet and couldn't be loving it more. Today's WIEIAD is another Collaboration as a part of my #CollabmasInJuly series here on the blog with the gorgeous Thara!

Advice for New Bloggers Who Want to Grow Their Blog | #CollabmasInJuly

Let me preface this by saying, I personally don't think there's any 'right' way to become a successful blogger. Sure, half of it is drive, talent and hard work but the other half can just be sheer dumb luck! That said, there are definitely a few tips and good habits that you can pick up on the way to help you maximise your success and reach for readers as a new blogger.

Accent Challenge | #CollabmasInJuly

Ever since I was little, putting on a fake accent and pretending to speak in different voices has always intrigued me, so I thought it was only fitting to get around to doing the Accent Challenge over on my channel. I had my YouTube bud, Melissa Bubbles join me for this weeks #CollabmasInJuly installment.

5 Drugstore Makeup Gems | #CollabmasInJuly

As a beauty lover, (hoarder) there's nothing more I love than discovering a new product that turns out to be either amazing in quality or price. When I do stumble across these 'Makeup Gems' I always like to fill in my friends on these new discoveries of mine. Of course, I consider all my readers my friends, so I wanted to share some Drugstore Makeup Gems that are just as good, if not better than something you might find at a high-end beauty counter.

What's In My Mouth Challenge | #CollabmasInJuly

The first video of my #CollabmasInJuly is here and it starts of with the grossly hilarious What's In My Mouth Challenge with The Pop Heir!

Please head on over to Ken's Channel and check out the video we did on his channel too- it includes a very hilarious Highlighter Challenge where we sparkle and shine to the highlighting Gods. We look fairly ridiculous but I promise it's all in good fun accompanied by a bit of banter, which we all love.

How To Change Up Your Skincare for Winter | #CollabmasInJuly

Winter Blues are very real and they can affect us all in many different ways.  For example, I find that the cold and drying air of Winter can leave my skin looking less than gorgeous and fine lines and pores become much more visible as the plumpness and hydration leaves my skin.

I know that it's a sad thought, but luckily I have a fantastic solution to all your dry and dehydrated skin problems that you may encounter this Winter...

June Favourites

How did it become July? I swear I say this every month and I am continually surprised that we keep getting further and further into 2016! The halfway mark of the year has come and gone and we are now closer to Christmas than the start of the year... I'll let you marinate on that thought.

So, it's that time of the month again where I share with you some of the products I have been loving this past June.

DIY Smoothie Bowl Recipe

The concept of Smoothie Bowls are blowing my mind. I mean, it's like a fruit soup that's both delicious and nutritious, not to mention you can decorate it however you want it which usually makes for a very aesthetically pleasing breakfast.

The most popular form of smoothie bowls I have come across so far is using Acai, (whether it's the frozen berry or a concentrated powder) which gives it a deliciously rich taste and gorgeous purple colour. However, there are also other forms of smoothie bowls that I've come across too... green, yellow and even some pink!

Winter Weekend Lookbook

A typical weekend for me is either chilling out and relaxing with family or heading out and scouting new places to find good food alongside great company. On this particular weekend, I ended up having lunch with a friend in an old train carriage turned restaurant. Yes, you read that right. Easey's in Collingwood is what your childhood dreams are made of. With three floors of restaurant leading you all the way up to the dining carriage, which literally sits right on top of the building. The views are simply amazing and a perfect backdrop for a weekend lunch in Melbourne.

Barry M 'Satsuma' | #NOTD

It's been a dreary and cold start to the week here in Melbourne, (duh it's Winter Anjelique) but that hasn't dampened my spirit just yet! I thought it would be quite fitting of me to do the exact opposite of what's considered 'normal' and paint my nails a bright orange colour to lift my spirits this week.

PLUS SIZE Winter Fashion Haul | City Chic, Target, ASOS, Miss Shop

If you could describe your wardrobe right now, how would you do it? Mine would be quite bland and missing a lot of staple pieces. Hence why I thought it was time to do a little shopping for the coming Winter months and really hone in on the style I wanted to create with my wardrobe.  For the most part, I don't really like to spend a lot of time putting an outfit together, which is why the pieces I've chosen in this haul are really items that are interchangeable and easy to make yourself look put together.

Welcome to the fashion haul where I finally buy the things I actually need, including trench coats and enough skivvies I could basically form a children's singing group to rival The Wiggles.

Too Faced | BETTER THAN SEX PT. II

Long time readers might remember my previous blog post of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which I reviewed almost around this time last year. Well folks, hold onto your seats and get ready for Part II of the Better Than Sex review series, as Too Faced have released a waterproof formulation of their best-selling mascara!

Let me introduce you to my new Bae, the holiest grail of holy grail products...

Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely love waterproof mascaras as I find my lashes often have trouble holding a curl and also like to transfer to my eyelids (thanks to my oily skin) so I usually tend to opt for waterproof mascaras if I want something budge-proof.

I thought I loved the original mascara, but nothing could prepare me (not even in my wildest dreams) for the love I was about to experience with the new Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara.

First of all, the curl this mascara gives your lashes is insane! The fact that I can use my eyelash curler once in the morning, comb this mascara through and have my lashes still reaching my eyebrows by the end of the day... Well, I think that's a fair feat!

Not to mention, the amount of volume and length it provides too- yeah, I think most will agree that this product could definitely come close to being Better Than Sex!

***

Have you had a chance to try either the original or waterproof formulations of the Better Than Sex Mascara? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Chic Everyday Makeup Tutorial

I'm no stranger to the occasional full face of makeup, (even if I'm just lounging around the house doing nothing) but sometimes I just really enjoy a nice and natural look, something that enhances my features but also doesn't make me look like a completely different person.

I have been absolutely loving this more 'minimal' makeup for everyday wear, it's really quite brightening and the glowing base is the perfect remedy for dull and dry Winter skin.

Think Parisian, Winter Chic!

My Girl // Quay Australia

I have something to admit to you.

I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to sunglasses! My previous experiences include either losing, sitting on, or forgetting them somewhere.

Like I said, hopeless.

So you can probably imagine my hesitation when I saw these gorgeous frames while I was browsing the ASOS website one night, (read: every night) and I saw that they were marble. I mean, it was my dream sunglasses pair come to life and for me in that moment, it was a must buy.

Colourpop Liquid Lipstick Review

Colourpop are a cruelty free brand from the US and their product line includes eyeshadows, highlighters, lip pencils and liquid lipsticks. I've heard all round good reviews about most of their products, but it is their liquid lipsticks that I'm most interested in at the moment. If you remember my Colourpop Lipstick Swatch post from a few weeks ago, you will remember that I promised to bring you a post and video on my exact thoughts of the product and formula. Now that I've had over a month to test out these bad boys, I can finally bring you the results of my rigorous testing!

What I Eat In A Day #2 | Vegan, Plant-Based

Welcome back to the second installment of my What I Eat In A Day series, where I chronicle literally everything I eat on a particular day. I know it sounds weird, but I honestly love reading posts and watching videos like this to give me 'food-spiration' and ideas for my own meals. As you may remember from my last WIEIAD post, I have turned to a Vegan, Plant-Based diet and couldn't be loving it more! If you would like to see a post about my thoughts and the process behind the 'sudden' change, please let me know and I will do just that!

May Favourites

Where has the time gone? I feel like I ask myself this question almost too often that it doesn't actually feel like it's only every month. The last week of May is passing us quickly and with that in mind, I thought it was about that time of month where I talk about some of the products and things I have been absolutely loving. This month includes sadly only two beauty products, but far more lifestyle bits, including some apps that have really been helping to keep me on track with life and learning. Find out more...

Little Mix Makeup Tutorial: Perrie Edwards

If you're looking for a group of girls who slay, look no further than Little Mix. With their undeniable vocal talent, fashion style and adorable nature, they are arguably the most influential girl group in the world right now. First discovering them when they were wee little things on X Factor, my love for these four girls has quadrupled over the last few years, so I thought I might turn that love for them into something creative which has inspired me to film this Perrie Edwards makeup tutorial today.

I've also admitted to some subtle stalking in my quest to figure out the exact products and shades that Perrie has used in previous makeup looks so make sure you get a chance to check it out as I've also mentioned a few dupes for these products too!

Products My Skin Has Been Loving

As a blogger, sometimes I'm lucky enough to be invited to press events for various brands and I have most recently had the pleasure of attending the Chadstone Kiehl's store opening. Once there and acquainted with the store, I was walked through a skin consultation which included covering my skin type and any concerns I might have. For me, my skin tends to be quite oily in the Summer and can classify itself as more combination/oily in cooler months. My main concern with my skin is that I quite frequently breakout and I don't always have full control over the temptation to start popping any spots! I generally try to keep my hands away from my face but the temptation is too great sometimes...especially if it's a whopper!

After the event, we were kindly gifted with a range of products best suited for our skin types as was discussed during our consultations. I have been using these products for well over a month now and I'm ready to tell you just what I think of them.

ColourPop Ultra-Matte Liquid Lipstick Swatches

Liquid lipsticks have been the hot topic in the beauty world for the past few years or so and even with the most recent release of liquid lipsticks slapped with the Kardashian brand, it seems the demand for them has gone through the roof.

Laying all my cards out on the table, I don't strive in 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians', in fact it's really drama I try to steer clear of, but when the entire beauty community is on hold because of the release of the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits, people are going to notice. Of course, at first there was a lot of controversy surrounding the formula and shades of the lipsticks being very similar to those of the ColourPop range. Now this is where my interest sparked because you all know I'm a sucker for a dupe. Onto the ColourPop website I went, chose my shades, went to checkout freaked out at the shipping costs which pretty much matched my order!

After some persuading, I got some of my friends to purchase some products too, so shipping was cut down dramatically! PHEW. Minor heart attacks aside, I finally got my lipstick order in the mail the other week and thought I would put together this super quick swatch video while I'm still testing out the formula and wear of them. No spoilers I'm afraid, you will have to wait another few weeks for my final thoughts...

22 Things I Have Learned in 22 Years

Hip Hip Hooray, it's officially my birthday, Happy Birthday to me!

I'm another year older and another year wiser, (or so they say!) and before I blow out the candles for another year, I thought I would take some time to reflect on these past 22 years of my life. If you had asked a little 7 year old me what I thought my life would be like, this definitely isn't what I had imagined for myself. I one hundred percent believed I was going to receive my Hogwarts letter at 11 and then go on to become a famous Pop Star once I had left school. Although, all the finer details are there; I am incredibly grateful to love and be loved by my family and friends, regardless of how much of a pain in the ass I am to them! In saying that, I still wouldn't be opposed to attending a Scottish boarding school to learn about spells and wizardry no matter what my age!
