HOW TO: Get Fuller Lips

Alright, alright, alright!

Plumped up lips have been the craze for a while now and thanks to Kylie Jenner, the trend is only going to keep on growing.

Personally, I've seen some wackily over drawn lips popping up in my news feed and Instagram and I've just about had it! Ladies, there is a way over-line your lips so that they look as natural as possible, all without looking like a children's entertainment clown.

With that in mind, I've devised some tips to help you fake the perfect pout.

1. Start with clean, hydrated lips.

2. Using a lip scrub, buff away at any flaky skin on the lips.
This will also plump them up for you.

3. You can use your own Lip scrub or DIY it, here.

4. Line your lips using a natural looking lip liner.
I'm using Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in the shade Pillow Talk.

5. When overdrawing your lips, take care not to go overboard.
I find it easiest to pull my lips into a closed smile and follow just outside of my natural lip line. Fill in your lips with the same colour.

6. Clean up around the edges of your lips with concealer using a brush to get a more precise application.

Can I say, I never realised how uneven my natural lips were until I was looking back at these photos. Apparently, the mirror distorts everything!

Are you a fan of over-drawn lips, or do you prefer to steer clear?

  1. What a fabulous guide, I have a feeling many will appreciate this! I already have quite full lips, though I used to suffer pretty bad hives through unknown allergies (on many tablets now to control them now so it's all good) and my lips would blow up HUGE - I had to aggressively insist to a doctor once that I hadn't tried any cheap botox treatments or over-the-counter alternatives haha! :)

ps. you have lovely lips and this shade of lipstick is perfect.

  2. Great post! It really shows how to get fuller lips without them looking overly aggressive like Kylie Jenner lips! Very subtle but fuller lips. Charlotte Tilbury's make up seems to be amazing. It just came to Ireland and I think I need to try out lots of her products (purely for professional reasons for my blog of course lol!) X

  3. I used to know someone who was lovely and stylish in a gothic kind of way and friendly with movie stars. She was great with makeup and hardly had any lips at all. Well, she used to literally draw full lips on her face where there weren't any. I know it sounds horrible, but she looked fantastic--really. It was the craziest thing. I suppose she was a true artist to pull that off! Great post! :))) Have a wonderful day!

  6. I'm pretty lucky to have fuller lips so I do stay clear of lip liners on most days or I'll look Kylie Jenner x10 in a very bad way. LOL!

  7. I have fairly full lips however if I want to add a little extra volume I opt for a lighter shade of lipstick, using a light reflecting gloss or balm such as Clarins lip perfectors. Also, a great tip is to highlight the cupids bow! NARS have some great highlights for that. You don't need a lot to get a highlighted effect.
