My Foundation Collection | 30 Days of June

Foundations, foundations, foundations.

I probably have more than the average beauty consumer but as far as beauty gurus go, I'm sure I have very few in comparison to others, but I do like to have an assortment of colours and formulas in my arsenal because you just never know.

I also like to spend most of my free time testing out new products and formulation because my skin is just too damn picky. Throughout my teens I suffered with a lot of pimples/ blackheads but for the most part I would say my skin was combination/oily. As soon as I entered my 20's everything changed, my skin started to get oilier and I started breaking out like a pre-pubescent teenager again!
SHOCK HORROR!
Since then, I have made it my mission to find the ultimate foundation which would last on my very oily skin and would not slip off during the day.

Don't get me wrong, yes I may have quite oily skin, but I don't like to limit myself to foundations/ makeup specifically formulated for my skin type. Every body's skin is unique and don't feel disheartened if foundation's that work for my skin don't necessarily work for yours. Skin types go so far beyond Dry, Normal, Combination and Oily, so make sure you do what's right for you.

Revlon Colourstay for Oily/ Combination Skin in Ivory I love the formula of this foundation so much, especially for me and my very oily skin- we love it! It seriously stays in place all day and although it does start off looking a bit powdery on the skin, as the day goes and and my natural oils shine through it gives off this lovely glow. I've just realised that this is my Winter shade pictured and I think I might need to invest in a Summer shade too!

Rimmel Match Perfection in True Ivory I bought this foundation upon recommendation of the Youtube Beauty Community but I'm not sure how I feel about it! I have quite large pores/ acne scarring on my cheeks and I find this foundation really highlights that flaw which is definitely a no-go for me. I would recommend it if you're looking for a lighter coverage foundation for day to day wear and you are not partial to lumps and bumps on your skin. I generally use this foundation to lighten up my Summer foundation colours so I can wear them all year round.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla I have nothing but great reviews for this product. In similar fashion to my Revlon Colourstay, I find that this foundation improves on my skin as the day goes on. It has a Satin/ Semi-Matte finish which I prefer with my foundations, because even though my skin is quite oily, I hate the 'powdered' look and find it very unattractive on my skin.

Nars Sheer Glow in Light 4 Deauville My absolute Holy Grail foundation, I don't think I could fault this one bit! I love that the coverage is Medium/ build-able and that it doesn't make me look cakey in the slightest! I use one pump of this foundation for an everyday base and two pumps for an evening/ fuller coverage look and I find it works perfectly for me. Some with oily skin types might be deterred from giving this product a fair go because of it's name, 'Sheer Glow' but I'm positive you're going to love it.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere in 30 Beige This foundation is definitely a Summer favourite for me in both formulation and colour. I'm not sure if Perfection Lumiere is still a foundation line carried by Chanel as this is a few years old. It's specifically designed for oily/combo skin types as this foundation has a built in powder that sets the makeup itself which means you have to work with it pretty quickly. I found the best way to do this was to apply to my face one half at a time. It provides excellent coverage and staying power and is perfect for those hot climates or Summer months.

Rimmel Wake Me Up in True Ivory Wowza. This one is a blast from the past! I discovered this foundation way back when I was a youngun' while watching Tanya Burr's makeup tutorials and I was hooked! This foundation gives such a beautiful glow to the skin and I always receive compliments on how beautiful my skin looks every time I wear it. It's formulation is most similar to Nars' Sheer Glow, however the colour range is horrendous! Even the lightest shade is a bit too dark for me- back on the Summer shelf it goes!

Ooh, it might also be handy to note that although I'm quite pale, my skin undertone is neutral/ cool so I tend to go for foundations with yellower undertones as this matches the tone of my skin.

I hope this post has been helpful for you guys and you're able to take away some advice from my experience with these products.

See you back here tomorrow!

I don't usually wear heavy makeup that's why I don't know more about them
I used CC or BB cream as my first layer on my skin

  2. Rimmel Wake Me Up is the one foundation that I am close to repurchasing because it's more than half finished! I have so many foundations that I never finish any, it's terrible I know. And I have recently rediscovered Bourjois Helthy Mix Serum again, can't believe I forgot about it, it's absolutely gorgeous.
