How To: Clean Your Makeup Brushes | AnjelCo

Look at your makeup brushes. Now back to me. Now back to the brushes.

Are they looking a little grimy? A little worse for wear? Can you even remember what colour the bristles actually are? Never fear because in today's post I'm going to show you how to clean them so they looking brand spanking new!

I prefer to use a spot cleaner for my makeup brushes for day to day cleaning but every two to three weeks I like to give them a nice deep clean and I'm going to show you how!

It's seriously as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4! Grab your dirty brush and swirl it with some water and a gentle shampoo/ cleanser (baby shampoo works a treat) and then rinse it gently under water until it runs clear. You may need to repeat this a few times if your brush is particularly dirty, but that it pretty much it. Simples!

Once they are clean I like to lay them to dry on an angle. I find it's much better to lay them this way so that the excess water still sitting in the bristles can drain down onto the towel and not back into the handle of the brush which may cause the glue holding it together to break down. You can do this by rolling the towel onto itself and laying the handle of the brush just on that roll you've created to give it that slight angle.

Once you have laid them to dry just play around with the bristles to encourage them to dry in their original shape.

Go ahead and repeat these steps on all of your dirty brushes and leave them to dry overnight! By the morning they will be clean and dry, ready to be used again!

Leave me a comment and let me know how you got on and what are your tips for cleaning makeup brushes?

Happy cleaning!
