10 Ways To Feel Better Today! | AnjelCo

I've been feeling quite poorly for the past couple of days and indulging in self pity so I thought it was time to reign in that negative Nancy and inject some more positivity into my life.
Since I love creating lists I have come up with 10 different ways to do this and I wanted to share it with you too.

Whether you're having a sick day in bed or just having a down day, here are my tips for improving your mood and finding your way to a speedy recovery.

1. Drink more water.

My friends are always commenting on how much water I drink and when I am sick I drink even more to keep replenishing my body with fluids that I am losing from taking drying medication. If you find it really difficult, or don't know how to incorporate more water into your day, purchase a 1 litre bottle and fill it with water. Start by trying to get through one of those a day. Eventually, you can bump it up to 2 a day or even 3. 

2. Indulge in some food.

Nothing beats the instant gratification you receive from eating a chocolate bar. Just remember, keep everything in moderation and don't go overboard because you will make yourself feel worse! We don't want that... : (

3. Create a playlist.

Hop onto your iTunes and create a playlist of your favourite songs. If you're stuck for some new songs or are feeling a hint of nostalgia, YouTube is your best friend. I personally love to put on some good 90s tunes or even play the soundtrack to my favourite musical. 'Good Morning Baltimore' is a great one to re-enact if you are bed-ridden and want to be Zac Efron's leading lady. 

4. Sleep.

Sleeping helps your body to repair itself and is my personal preference of procrastination and avoiding responsibilities; as all good adults do. 

5. Put on some makeup.

It's seriously amazing what the effects of putting on some eyeliner and mascara will do for your self esteem. All too familiar with this tip, I find it's such a pick me up for when you're having a down day. 
Personally, I prefer not to wear makeup when I'm ill because I'm a huge germophobe and don't want to risk contaminating my makeup products but if you're looking a little worse for wear and don't have the luxury of staying home then go for it!

6. Selfies!

Seriously, vanity knows no bounds when it comes to a bad day. Now you've got your makeup on and had a good boogie, it's time to take some cute photos of yourself. 

7. Phone a friend.

I know this isn't Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, but having a chat with your bestie is another good pick me up. Whether you feel like talking things through or just want a fun chat, your friends are always there for you and this is the time to capitalise on that!

8. Watch/ read your favourite movie/ TV show/ book

My favourite thing to do is watch the Harry Potter series back to back until I either feel better from all the laughter or until I fall asleep. It's my go to pick me up for everything and anything and I could seriously quote you every line from the series. 

9. Bake!

If you're feeling up to it and you're sure you won't contaminate the food why don't you bake some cookies or brownies? The homey smell will turn that frown upside down and have you feeling better in no time.

10. Eat healthy

I realise that I've just talked about eating brownies and chocolate bars but hey, who doesn't like a little contradiction in their life? As goes the slogan on the Nurti-Grain ads, 'You only get out what you put in' and it couldn't be simpler. If you find you're feeling sick all the time and you're down a little too often, maybe it's time to reassess what you're eating and making sure you packing in all the nutrients you need.


Don't forget to SMILE! Even if you're not feeling it on the inside, fake it until you make it!
